Recent Thon Hotel Astoria Review: "This hotel was perfect for my purpose. Oslo is an insanely expensive city. For example, dinner for one at McDonalds was a little over $25 bucks. This hotel is perfectly located in the middle of downtown. All the staff was very helpful and professionally nice. It is a budget hotel so don't expect luxurious shampoos and carpets and that type of stuff.  If that's what your looking for then I'm sure Oslo has plenty of very expensive hotels to offer. Don't buy a budget hotel and then expect luxuries. The free breakfast in the morning was quite good and worth its weight in gold. That type of meal would easily cost 60 or 70 dollars in Oslo. The hotel is located in a high traffic area which was what I wanted. I saw some reviews complain about the loudness on the weekends. That's true to some degree but don't get a centrally located downtown hotel if you're looking for peace and quiet. Go stay out by the airport 40 minutes from downtown if that's what you're looking for. Saturday night did have loud club music playing well into the middle of the night but closing your window helped and I'm not complaining because this hotel's advantage is it's heavy traffic location so it would be dumb to complain. Again, the staff members that I dealt with were incredibly helpful and nice so what more could you ask forr I definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in Oslo's downtown area and looking to save some cash."
